Musical Director – Sean Douglas

Sean is currently a Tenor Lay Clerk at Peterborough Cathedral, he started his musical career at St Michael’s Bray as a chorister under Oliver Gooch, Paul Wingfield and Lindsay Bramley. He read Music at the University of York where he refined many of his skills in signing under Susan Young, conducting, composing and arranging.
As a treble, he performed several roles in many of Benjamin Britten’s youth operas and the title role in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors. Since the age of 16, when he joined the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, he has performed at the BBC Proms, the Three Choirs Festival and alongside the BBC Singers with their flagship chamber choir, National Youth Voices under Ben Parry and Nic Chalmers. Now a Lay Clerk, he is frequently asked to sing solos at Peterborough Cathedral and is often invited as a deputy singer for visiting choirs, at Guildford Cathedral, and the King’s Chapel of the Savoy.
Sean’s experience as a conductor has led him to assist in conducting at St Michael’s Bray, conducting Taplow Youth Chamber Choir at Eton College’s annual Eton Action Fair alongside Gillian Dibden OBE, and conducting the University of York Concert Orchestra. He is currently a co-conductor of Windsor Community Orchestra, writing in-house arrangements for instrumentalists of all ages and abilities. He has also assisted in the music making at Holyport College, near Maidenhead, running ensembles and teaching musical skills such as theory and voice.
